How much does an HIU repair cost in London?

HIU repair costs in London typically range from £60 for a diagnostic callout to £500+ for complex repairs like controller or PCB replacement. Most common repairs — such as plate heat exchanger descaling (£150–£250) or valve replacement (£180–£350) — are mid-range. We always provide a fixed-price quote after diagnosis before any work begins, so you know exactly what you are paying.

Do you charge a callout fee?

Our standard diagnostic callout is £60–£90, which covers the engineer visit, fault diagnosis and a fixed-price repair quote. If you proceed with the repair, the callout fee is waived — you only pay for the repair itself. Emergency callouts are £120–£150 and include the first hour of labour.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace an HIU?

If your HIU is under 10–12 years old and the fault is a common one (blocked strainer, faulty valve, scaled heat exchanger), repair is almost always more cost-effective. If your HIU is over 15 years old, requires frequent repairs, or has obsolete parts, replacement (£1,800–£3,500) may be the better long-term investment. We always give honest advice on which option is right for you.

Do you offer fixed-price repairs?

Yes. After diagnosing the fault, our engineer provides a fixed-price quote covering parts and labour. The price you are quoted is the price you pay — no hourly rates, no surprise charges. If additional work is needed during the repair, we always confirm with you before proceeding.

Are your prices competitive?

Our prices are transparent and competitive for London. We do not charge hourly rates or hidden fees. We carry common parts in our vans to complete most repairs on the first visit, which keeps costs down. For landlords and managing agents with multiple units, we offer volume pricing on servicing and planned maintenance.

Do you accept payment by card and bank transfer?

Yes. We accept all major debit and credit cards, bank transfers and cash. For larger jobs and replacement installations, we typically take a deposit and the balance on completion. Invoices are issued digitally with full breakdown of parts and labour.

Is there a warranty on HIU repairs?

Yes. All our HIU repairs come with a 12-month parts and labour guarantee. If the same fault recurs within 12 months, we return and fix it at no charge. Replacement HIU installations come with the manufacturer warranty (typically 2–5 years) plus our own 12-month installation warranty.

What Affects Price

Factors That Affect HIU Repair Cost

HIU Brand & Model

Some brands (Evinox, Danfoss) have more expensive parts than others. We carry parts for all major manufacturers.

Fault Type

A blocked strainer costs less to fix than a failed controller or pump. Diagnosis always comes first.

Parts Availability

Common parts are carried in our vans. Rare or obsolete parts may need ordering, which can affect cost.

Emergency vs Standard

Emergency callouts cost more than scheduled repairs. If you can wait 24–48 hours, you save on callout fees.

Accessibility

HIUs in tight cupboards or behind obstructions take longer to work on, which can increase labour time.

Age of Unit

Older HIUs may have corroded fixings or obsolete components that make repairs more complex.
